What to Expect

Expect to build a trusting, real relationship with your midwife during your pregnancy. At Celebrate Birth, we will schedule appointments carefully so that you will rarely have to wait, will not be rushed, and will have time to ask questions and discuss what’s going on in your life and with your body. We desire to develop a relationship with you based on trust, in which you feel that your midwife is someone you can laugh with, cry with, and confide in. Your midwife will always be just a phone call away when you have a concern.

Expect for your family to be welcomed and valued. We love for your husband/partner and children to be involved in your care and we respect the vital role they play in your pregnancy and birth. Our offices where we see you for appointments are child-friendly with toys and books for your children to enjoy.

Expect maternity care in which your decisions are respected and supported. We believe in informed choice. We encourage you to take responsibility to make educated decisions for yourself and your baby. One of our goals is to provide you with resources so that you can feel confident you have all necessary information to make choices that are right for you. We respect the fact that it is your body and your baby.

Expect skilled midwifery care. We are nationally certified, state licensed, and experienced in out-of-hospital birth. Our goal is that you feel safe in the care of your midwife with confidence that your health and the health of your baby are our first priority. But that is our minimum standard. We know that pregnancy and birth can be so much more than just “safe,” and we know that how a woman and her family are treated and cared for have wide implications.

Expect to have the best birth experience possible. No two women or babies are alike, therefore we understand that every birth is different and unique. We believe that there is no right or wrong way to birth. Whether your birth is lengthy and goes more slowly than you expected, or happens suddenly and swiftly, we support you every step of the way. Of course, although we cannot guarantee it, our genuine desire is that you get the birth that you want while never compromising your health or the health of your baby.
