A servant's heart

I am forever grateful for Christy Martin. She was my midwife for two of my pregnancies. Christy provided a sense of calm to any chaos and uncertainty I felt in pregnancy. There is always a sense of peace when you are around her. Every question, phone call, text, email, etc. was answered.

Christy sees each mother as an individual. She gets to know you as a mom as well as your family so that during labor and delivery she can read you and your family’s needs. If a mom needs more support she gives it. If a mom doesn’t she will stand by and wait. This is what I love most about Christy. She feels what a mom needs and what a mom doesn’t need and gives accordingly. She has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in her field just as many midwives do however Christy doesn’t do the work for you. She allows you to learn as you go and confirming or correcting any knowledge you learn along the way. Some view their caregiver in pregnancy as the teacher or the one in charge. Christy doesn’t act as a teacher rather she acts like a mentor allowing the mother to be her own teacher.

Her bedside manner is impeccable. I felt that she read me very well even though hardly any verbal conversation went on during my labors. She knew exactly what I needed and when I needed it. I used the word “grateful” to describe Christy however this word hardly seems strong enough.

Thank you Christy Martin for simply being who you are.
